New Port Facts
- The New Port will be a world-class deep-water port with depth of 17 meters.
- The New Port is located in the coastal strip north of Massiead and south of Al Wakra, approximately 30 km south of Doha and will occupy 20 sq. km.
- The New Port incorporates modern, state-of-the art technologies, design techniques, and sustainable principles.
- The Master Plan includes a rail terminal linked to the proposed Gulf Cooperation Council railway, providing the port with land-based links to neighboring countries.
- The New Doha Port Container Terminal will have a capacity of 2 million, 20-ft containers (TEU) per year with the possibility to expand to 6 million TEU a year in the future.
- The New Port will protect the local environment, minimizing adverse environmental impacts.
