The NPP recognizes Qatar’s mission to preserve the environment and its natural balance. To this end, the NPP SC has appointed an Environmental Consultant to identify and minimise adverse environmental impacts arising during construction and operation of the new port. The Environmental Consultant is responsible for developing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report and providing specialist environmental advice during planning, construction and post-construction. Environmental impact assessment studies form an integral and important part of the project t, and these studies will help us define, specify, and implement appropriate mitigation measures through all stages of the project.
The Ministry of Environment (MoE) is an important stakeholder in the project, providing advice and guidance during the EIA. The MoE is working closely with the NPP, the Environmental Consultant and other stakeholders on this project to ensure protection of the environment and regulatory compliance. Together, the NPP and these important stakeholders will ensure that the NPP is developed in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
